Join Us!

Christmas Barter Boutique

Like many of you I have accumulated a lot of craft supplies in my home. I’ve been thinking
how wonderful it would be to actually do something with those supplies and to reclaim that
space. When I was a young girl my aunt would host a yearly Christmas boutique in her home.
Friends would gather there to sell their crafts and others would come to buy them.

Here’s my idea……….

Wouldn’t you love to be able to get some of your Christmas shopping done for your mother, mother-in-law, sisters or your own kids without spending any money?

Here’s the catch:
I came up with the idea of a Christmas Barter. Anyone who makes handcrafted items or has a service they can sell (aka photography or babysitting) are welcome to join our boutique. And even those who have had an idea of something they could create inexpensively... then we want you too! The greater the variety of items the more fun it will be. The goal is to provide a way for us women to trade/barter items we produce for other items/services we would like or need.

The Specifics:
· By end of September, you will make a sample of your item(s) for friends to see on the Boutique blog and in person. On blog will be clear photos, descriptions, and a barter price…
· If Molly (who is offering personalized pillowcases) wants a pair of Alice’s handmade earrings, but Alice is not interested in the pillowcases….. then cash would have to change hands. But the ultimate goal is that we are able to use up our stash of supplies and not spend a lot of money out of pocket to produce these items. The goal isn’t so much to make a big profit as it is to share our creativity with one another and get some Christmas shopping done!
· You will have all of October and half of November to get the items that you are trading completed. You only make what you pre-sell. No hyper sensitive women please! If people don’t need your item(s) DON’T TAKE IT PERSONAL!
· In November everyone will meet with all the items they have made to do the trading. It should be a lot of fun and exciting!
· More details to follow. Please
email Maggie with any questions soyprincesa2@hotmail.com Stay tuned for more info. You may think you aren’t creative…. But start thinking about something you could create! If you want to help organize or work out some of the details… just email me!
Please comment here if you are interested in participating. You have till the end of September to decide what thing(s) you will be offering.

Maggie, I'm in. I'm up cleaning my craft room as we speak/ type. I have tons of onsies and twosies from craft shows I need to part with. Plus tons of scrapbook paper like over 20 feet in vertical files and we won't talk about the stash other places. Another idea maybe to have a craft yard sale to buy items to make crafts. I've done this before. YOu dont get as much but, it helps to purge.
